The Itinerary.

Welcome to Your Mongolian Adventure!
When you arrive at the airport or train station, the Discovery Mongolia team will warmly welcome you and take you to your well-placed hotel in downtown Ulaanbaatar (UB).
Depending on your arrival time, there may be a chance to explore the city and take leisurely walks. In the evening, we will convene for a welcome meeting with our team and share information about our journey.
You'll also get to savor delicious meals and spend the night at the hotel.

Transfer to the airport early in the morning and fly to Khovd. Explore the Khovd River for highlight species.

Local Tour Camp

Your mountain adventure begins as you move to the Altai mountain range. Your stay in a community-based ger camp and interactions with locals as you spend the next few days birdwatching, will give you a more authentic Mongolian experience.

Another day to enjoy birding in this unique habitat. The local guides are extremely skilled and will give you the best wildlife viewing, birdwatching, and photographic opportunities.

Continue your mountain adventure in the Altais. By the evening, we will set our camping the Khar-Us Lake, one in a series of interconnected lakes in the Great Lake Depression of Western Mongolia. The region is well known for being home to several endemic species of fish, as well as many water birds.
The surrounding area will be the next chapter of our journey of the Altai Mountains.

Explore the mighty Munkh Khairkhan area and settle around beautiful lake Khoton, the natural habitat of many rare bird species.
During these days, our journey will involve short range horse treks and another great photographic opportunities.

Arrive at Ulgii, the center of Bayan-Ulgii province and visit local Tuvans and Kazakh families.

Take a late afternoon flight back to Ulaanbaatar and relax after your memorable quest in the Altai.

Explore the city of Ulaanbaatar and visit remarkable cultural sites.
Gather for a farewell dinner and overnight at your hotel.
