The breathtaking granitic formations of Baga Gazariin Chuluu, referred to as the "stone of the little place," grace the northwestern expanse of the Dundgovi province, nestled within the heart of the steppe. Positioned approximately 250 km (155.34 miles) south of Ulaanbaatar, in the Delgertsogt sum, these formations rise to an elevation of 1751 meters (1.09 miles), forming an imposing granite canyon amidst the vast steppe landscape.
The relentless forces of erosion have intricately shaped the rock faces of the cliffs. While some lateral entrances to the canyon may present accessibility challenges, the majority offer passage, inviting explorers to embark on captivating hikes through this rocky labyrinth.
Savor delightful meals throughout the day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner), and retire for the night in the comfort and authenticity of traditional Mongolian gers/yurts.
-
Tsagaan Suvarga's escarpment in the southwest of the Dundgobi province is a sheer slope, once an ancient seabed with a sedimentary structure formed over millions of years. Its unique eastward orientation, resembling remnants of an ancient city, earned it the name "White Stupa." Due to its eastward face, storms sometimes lead to animal falls.
Standing at over 60 meters high and stretching 400 meters, the stupa rises vertically at a 90-degree angle. After heavy rain, cascading water down the stupa creates a stunning waterfall-like spectacle, enhancing its natural allure.
Expect a delightful array of meals throughout the day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner), and retire for the night in the cherished embrace of traditional Mongolian gers/yurts.
-
Following a nourishing breakfast, our day's journey takes us to Yoliin Am, also known as the Valley of Vultures. Here, immerse yourself in the refreshing beauty of a gorge during a 1-2 hour invigorating hike.
Yolyn Am is a profound and slender gorge situated in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains of southern Mongolia. The valley derives its name from the Lammergeier, known as "Yol" in Mongolian. The Lammergeier, an Old World vulture, lends its name to the valley, which is frequently translated as the Valley of the Vultures or the Valley of the Eagles.
Savor delightful meals throughout the day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner), and retire for the night in the comfort and authenticity of traditional Mongolian gers/yurts.
-
Following a hearty breakfast, our journey continues westward to reach the iconic Khongor Sand Dunes, an essential stop in the southern Gobi region. Over the next two days, you'll engage in a variety of activities. You'll embark on a short hike over the mesmerizing sand dunes and embark on a memorable camel riding tour across these immense dunes, offering a unique perspective of the landscape. Additionally, you'll have the chance to visit and interact with the Gobi nomads, enriching your understanding of their unique way of life.
Expect to savor a delicious assortment of meals throughout the day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner), and enjoy the comfort and authenticity of traditional Mongolian gers/yurts as you spend the night, creating lasting memories in the heart of the Gobi Desert.
-
Following a relaxing morning at our camp, we set our course for Bayanzag, famously known as the Flaming Cliffs. This remarkable location is where archaeologists have made groundbreaking discoveries, reconstructing hundreds of complete dinosaur skeletons that once roamed this territory over 70 million years ago.
The rocks at Bayanzag emit a captivating, glowing orange hue, creating a stunning contrast against the vast expanse of the Mongolian Gobi Desert.
Meals will be provided throughout the day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner), and you'll enjoy the warmth and authenticity of traditional Mongolian gers/yurts during your overnight stay, allowing you to fully absorb the unique history and natural beauty of the Gobi Desert.
-
Embarking on a new day after breakfast, our path leads us to the Ongi Temple Ruins, an ancient complex resonating with Buddhist heritage. This leg of our expedition takes us northwards, guiding us toward the confluence of the Orkhon River.
A tranquil evening awaits at the Ongi camp, where you can unwind and relish the serene surroundings.
Indulge in a trio of Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and find reprieve within the cozy walls of traditional Mongolian gers as you settle in for another night's stay.
