Khongor Sand dunes
One of the magnificent sand dunes in the Gobi is the Khongor Sand Dunes which extend more than 180 km with heights of 15-30 m in most areas. However, the highest point is 800 meters. Among the locals, the dune is also called the Singing dune as it makes an engine-like sound on a windy day. The name Khongor is therefore derived from a similar word.

Yoliin Am, the Valley of Vultures
Yoliin Am (Lammergeier Valley) is a narrow gorge in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains of the southern Mongolian gobi desert. The valley is named after the Lammergeier, which is called Yol in the Mongolian language.
Deep in the valley, one can find ice fields during summertime.
